Karen Romero

Energy Justice Associate

As the Energy Justice Associate, Karen Romero Estrada focuses on local equitable building decarbonization programs and policies and pushes back against false climate solutions. She supports the coordination of the LARHH coalition, a coalition dedicated to advancing equitable building decarbonization in Los Angeles. She also represents PSR-LA in local coalitions dedicated to halting false climate solutions, including hydrogen.

She believes all communities have the right to healthy neighborhoods and homes that are climate resilient, with access to clean air, water, and soil, and affordable energy. This value is informed by her early childhood experiences with environmental racism and has fueled her inner fire for justice ever since.

Karen holds a Bachelor of Arts in Urban and Environmental Policy from Occidental College. She also participated in the Public Voices fellowship with the Op-Ed Project and was a recipient of the Public Policy and International Affairs (PPIA) scholar at Carnegie Mellon University. In her free time, she enjoys exploring gardens (despite her allergies) and her love for makeup and beauty.
