Ivana Castellanos
Toxics Program Manager
Ivana joined PSR-LA in September 2022 and currently serves as the Toxics Program Manager. In this role, she focuses on reducing the use of toxic chemicals; preventing industrial pollution; reducing worker and community exposures to toxic chemicals; and addressing the legacy of pollution and environmental contamination. She coordinates and supports a work group of frontline community members and advocates who engage with California’s Department of Toxic Substances Control to hold it accountable for its mandate to protect the public from toxic substances. In addition, Ivana coordinates the Californians for a Healthy and Green Economy (CHANGE) network, which builds the capacity of organizations at the intersections of toxics, climate, environmental justice, and public health.
Ivana’s prior experience includes serving as a policy analyst with the American Public Health Association’s Center for Public Health Policy. Her work there addressed health equity, environmental health, climate change, tribal environmental health, and healthy community design. Ivana holds a Master of Public Health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Princeton University.
Ivana is a Los Angeles County native, and she grew up in Hawthorne. She enjoys finding and restoring secondhand treasures, googling things, overanalyzing reality TV, and spending time outdoors.
