Tell CA leaders to Fully Fund GGRF!
Invest in Affordable Housing, Safe Drinking Water, Clean Air —Not Big Oil
On May 29, after over eight hours of strong community opposition, Governor Newsom’s top air regulators voted to hand BILLIONS of dollars in subsidies to Big Oil, cutting funding for clean transit, affordable housing, safe drinking water, and clean air.
The California Air Resources Board (CARB) has demonstrated that it doesn't care about California communities. By approving changes to California's Cap-and-Invest Program, Gov. Newsom and the legislature have significantly reduced revenue for programs housed within the Greenhouse Gas Reductions Fund (GGRF), a major source of funding for community programs, and increased subsidies for Big Oil and industrial polluters.
We need to fix this now. We are now calling on the legislature and the Governor, who still have the power to fund GGRF, to save these programs.
You can help now by calling the offices of Governor Newsom and Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas — it only takes 5 minutes. Tell them to invest in transit, housing, clean water & clean air, not Big Oil!

“My name is ____ and I live in ____. I am calling to share my deep disappointment in CARB’s decision to gut Cap-and-Invest funding for critical community programs and give billions to Big Oil. I ask that the Speaker keep his word to our communities and reprioritize Tier 3 programs as Tier 1 within the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund so essential community investments can continue. Thank you.”
Sample Script for Governor Newsom’s office — please customize!
“My name is ____ and I live in ____. I am calling to demand that Governor Newsom honor the deal he made last year and protect Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund investments into affordable housing, transit, clean air and clean water. His word is meaningless if he can make a legislative deal, but then turn around and let CARB gut these critical programs. He must move those Tier 3 programs into Tier 1 today.”
