The Passing of a Friend

Our dear friend and supporter,
Willard Osibin M.D., died on
November 26 from a massive heart
attack. Willard was a national leader
within Physicians for Social
Responsibility, and was intimately
involved in local issues of radioactive
contamination, concerning Ward Valley
and the Diablo Canyon nuclear power
plant, a few miles from his thriving
practice.
In fact, Willard’s gentle but insistent
prodding moved the Los Angeles
chapter to begin work on distributing
potassium iodine (KI) tablets, (read
more about KI on page 3).
A graduate of Meharry Medical
College in Nashville, class of 1953, Dr.
Osibin was once a leader within the
National Medical Association, but
instead moved over to PSR in the
1980’s.
Memorial services were held
December 1 at Atascadero Bible
Church. His widow, Shirley has asked
that donations in his honor be made to
PSR.
