PSR-LA is delighted to announce that Joseph Wilson and Valerie Plame Wilson will be honored at our Annual Gala Dinner on Thursday, June 7, 2007 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. The Wilsons will receive the Peacemaker Award for their courageous efforts to protect Americans from weapons of mass destruction and their steadfast commitment to the truth in the face of great adversity.
Shirley Magidson will receive the Healing the Planet Award for her decades of service to Physicians for Social Responsibility and her many efforts toward human rights, civil liberties, immigrantsʼ rights, and womenʼs rights.
Kaiser Permanenteʼs Environmental Stewardship program will receive the Socially Responsible Medicine Award for its efforts to provide health care services in a manner that protects the environment and public health.
Law and Order, Special Victims Unit will receive the Socially Responsible Media Award for taking on the most challenging social issues of our times, including the recent episode, “Loophole,” which powerfully addresses the toxic effects of pesticides. Executive Producer Neal Baer M.D. and Emmy-award winning actress Mariska Hargitay will accept the award.
Our special guest will be the witty and wry Academy award-winning musician Randy Newman!
