Join us on Wednesday, November 14 for an exciting discussion with Dr. Tilman Ruff, co-President of International Physicians for the Prevent of Nuclear War and founding chair of the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear weapons, winner of the 2017 Noble Peace Prize. The event is from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. in the Westminster Chapel of the Immanuel Presbyterian Church, 3300 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles 90010. Click here to RSVP!
Every second of every day – while we work, while we sleep, while we play – nuclear weapons threaten health, humanity, and the planet. And today, the nuclear threat is greater than ever. The Trump Administration is walking away from key disarmament treaties, expanding the role of nuclear weapons in U.S. national security strategy, and planning to spend over $1 trillion dollars to build up our nuclear arsenal, fueling a dangerous new global arms race.
But there is an alternative to this march to nuclear war. Last year, 122 nations called for the elimination of nuclear weapons by voting to adopt the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons, which would ban nuclear weapons just as chemical, biological, and other indiscriminate weapons of war are banned. A new grassroots movement called “Back from the Brink” is mobilizing U.S. support for the treaty and other urgently needed policies to prevent nuclear war. The City of Los Angeles and the state of California passed resolutions this summer supporting the movement, adding great momentum.
Please join us on November 14 for an urgent and timely discussion to learn more about the U.N. nuclear weapon ban treaty and what it will take to eliminate nuclear weapons, once and for all.
