Paul Y. Song, MD was most recently was on the faculty at the Samuel Oschin Cancer Center at Cedars Sinai Medical Center. He is currently the Chief Medical Officer of ATGen Global and Cynvenio Biosystems.
Dr. Song served as the very first visiting fellow on healthcare policy in the California Department of Insurance for 2013 and was appointed to the California Coastal Commission by Former CA Assembly Speaker John Perez in 2014. He is the Executive Chairman of the Courage Campaign, a progressive online organization of 1 million members and is the Co-Chair for a Campaign for a Healthy California. In addition, Dr. Song serves on the national board of Physicians for a National Health Program, Liberty in North Korea, People for the American Way, The Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies, and The Eisner Pediatric and Family Medical Center.
Dr. Song graduated with honors from the University of Chicago and received his M.D. degree from George Washington University. He completed his residency in radiation oncology at the University of Chicago and did a brachytherapy fellowship at the Institute Gustave Roussy in Villejuif, France.
Dr. Jyoti Puvvula

Jyoti Puvvula MD, MPH is Associate Clinical Professor at the Harbor-UCLA Department of Family Medicine and David Geffen, UCLA School of Medicine. She directs the community medicine curriculum there with focus on Health & Human Rights, Social Injustice, and Care of Vulnerable Populations. She is co-medical director of the Gardena High School Based Clinic. As the coordinator of the adolescent health curriculum, she also helps coordinate the teen pregnancy program, the teen peer health education curriculum and YOLO Healthy Lifestyles programs. She is the co-director of the Summer Urban Health fellowship, which is an intense 6-week pipeline health program that brings together family medicine resident physicians, medical students, undergraduates and local inner-city high school youth in mentoring relationships to address health disparities in their communities. Her research and interests are in Health & Health Care Disparities, maternal & child health, Higher Education & Pipeline programs, and Immigrant health. Co-founder of local group Doctors for Peace and Justice, she works on education and activism surrounding issues of war and human rights as well. Dr. Puvvula has also been active in global health. She has co-led several global health teams to countries like India, Sri Lanka, Guatemala, Haiti, and annually to Chiapas, Mexico. She is on the board of directors for Doctors for Global Health (www.dghonline.org) and continues to chair the Human Rights and Advocacy Committee. However, her most challenging and rewarding work continues to be parenting her young son.
Manisha Vaze
Director of Organizing
Strategic Concepts in Organizing and Policy Education
Manisha Vaze joined SCOPE as Lead Organizer in July 2013 and became the Director of Organizing in January 2014. At SCOPE, Manisha manages the grassroots voter engagement, community organizing, and campaign activities to build power alongside residents of South LA toward economic and social justice. Before SCOPE, Manisha was the Senior Organizer at Families for Freedom (FFF), a New York City-based community organization by and for families facing deportation due to an interaction with the criminal system. She campaigned to win federal changes to immigration law and statewide changes to cut ties between the local criminal system and the federal immigration system. Manisha also has experience in mental health program development and policy advocacy and served as the Follow-up Coordinator at the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Cognitive Science from the University of California at Berkeley and a Masters in Social Work from Columbia University.
