Biomonitoring 101: Assessing Exposure & Increasing Baseline Data webinar

In the Biomonitoring 101: Assessing Exposure & Increasing Baseline Data webinar, presenters from the California Department of Public Health explained the basics of biomonitoring. Biomonitoring is a tool used by the state to measure chemicals in a person’s body. Understanding what exposure looks like across the state, makes it possible for researchers and community members to evaluate the effectiveness of regulatory and public health interventions.

Biomonitoring California is preparing to begin their California Regional Exposure (CARE) Study. The CARE Study will provide information about exposures to harmful metals and PFASs in California residents. The project will allow Biomonitoring California to compare environmental chemical exposure in different areas of the state and learn about how environmental chemical exposure is changing over time. The study will begin in Los Angeles County in 2018.
